Teddy bears take centre stage at Southlands' family picnic

Children clutching their favourite teddy bears, families relaxing on picnic blankets and the sound of music filling the air made for a memorable afternoon at Southlands Art Centre's annual Teddy Bears' Picnic on Sunday, 19 July.

The much-loved family event, held as part of the Southlands Summer Programme, brought together children, parents and grandparents for an afternoon packed with entertainment and creativity. Families were encouraged to bring along a picnic and their cuddliest companions, with teddy bears of all shapes and sizes joining in the fun.

Young visitors were entertained by a lively performance from Compass Puppet Club before getting creative at the craft corner. One of the day's highlights was the Teddy Parade, where children proudly showed off their beloved bears, many dressed in colourful outfits, to the delight of fellow visitors.

James Carson, Volunteer at southlands said:

"the event was fantastic, a really good day for all of the kids and their parents. i am not sure who had more fun the kids or the parents."

Live music added to the cheerful atmosphere throughout the afternoon, while the Southlands café kept families refreshed with drinks and light bites. Complimentary squash for children proved a welcome treat on the warm summer's day.

With laughter, music and plenty of teddy bear cuddles, the annual picnic once again brought the local community together, giving families the chance to make lasting memories and enjoy a relaxed summer afternoon in the heart of West Drayton.
