CHIP SHOP INFERNO: BLAZE RIPS THROUGH HILLINGDON TAKEAWAY LEAVING TWO IN HOSPITAL

A popular Hillingdon fish and chip shop was engulfed in flames this afternoon, triggering a major emergency response that left part of the building destroyed and sent two people to the hospital.

Six fire engines and approximately 40 firefighters rushed to Stobys fish and chip shop on Ryefield Avenue, Uxbridge, after a blaze broke out on the ground floor of the end-of-terrace property.

The London Fire Brigade’s (LFB) 999 Control Officers received the initial emergency call at 2:03 PM today, Monday, 20 July. Crews from five local stations—Hillingdon, Hayes, Northolt, Ruislip, and Heathrow—were deployed to battle the flames, which threatened the residential flats situated directly above the takeaway.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) arrived shortly after receiving a call at 2:10 PM. Paramedics treated a man and a child at the scene who were suffering from smoke inhalation. Both patients were subsequently transported to a local hospital for further care. Their current conditions have not been released.

Metropolitan Police officers arrived at 2:15 PM to assist fire crews, quickly cordoning off the busy Ryefield Avenue and establishing road closures to allow emergency vehicles clear access to the scene.

Thick smoke was seen billowing from the ground floor unit as crews worked to contain the fire. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze completely under control by 3:42 PM, though part of the ground floor restaurant was completely destroyed by the flames.

A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade confirmed that the exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage. Specially trained fire investigators are currently on-site working alongside police to determine how the blaze started.

Ryefield Avenue remains partially closed this evening as emergency services clear debris from the scene.
