Southlands Photography Club Announces Annual Exhibition & Competition: A Celebration of Community Talent

Photography enthusiasts of all levels are invited to take part in the Southlands Photography Club’s Exhibition & Competition, set to open on 28th April at 10:00 AM and run for seven days, closing on Sunday, 5th May at 3:00 PM. This popular event not only offers a platform for photographers to showcase their work but also provides an exciting opportunity for participants to win prizes, sell their art, and celebrate their craft with the local community.

A Competition with Two Categories for All Ages

The competition is open to two distinct age groups: under 18 and 18 and over. Each category offers a £100 prize for the winner, chosen by a distinguished panel headed by the Mayor of Hillingdon, who will also attend the exhibition. This offers a unique chance for both younger and seasoned photographers to gain recognition for their creative talents.

Exclusive VIP Event to Honour Talent

A VIP event will be held during the exhibition, bringing together participants, special guests, and local dignitaries. The evening will be a celebration of photography, with the Mayor’s presence ensuring an air of prestige. To elevate the experience, a live violinist will provide an elegant soundtrack, creating a sophisticated atmosphere for all attendees to enjoy.

Exhibit & Sell Your Art

All entries must be ready to hang—framed or similarly presented—and dropped off at one of the designated collection points prior to the event. This exhibition is not just about competing but offers an excellent opportunity for photographers to exhibit and sell their work, with the possibility of connecting with collectors and art enthusiasts eager to invest in local talent.

Honouring a Legacy of Passion for Photography

This year’s competition is proudly sponsored by Hillingdon Vision in collaboration with Susan Wynne, in tribute to her late husband, Richard Wynne, former chair of Southlands Photography Club. Richard was known for his kindness, dedication to photography, and his commitment to supporting young, emerging photographers in the community. Susan hopes that this event will continue to uphold his legacy, fostering a love for photography and encouraging the development of new talent in Hillingdon.
