MURDER INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED AFTER WOMAN, 24, FATALLY STABBED IN HAYES

A murder investigation has been launched after a 24-year-old woman was stabbed to death and a young man was seriously wounded during a violent incident in west London this morning.

Emergency services were called to a property on Uxbridge Road, Hayes, at around 7:55 AM on Sunday following reports of a knife attack.

Metropolitan Police officers and paramedics arrived to find the young woman inside the property suffering from catastrophic stab wounds. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim, a man in his 20s, was discovered outside the property also suffering from stab injuries. He was rushed to hospital, where police are currently awaiting an official update on his condition.

A 44-year-old man was detained by officers nearby after matching a description of the suspect. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place. The Metropolitan Police confirmed he was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries believed to have been sustained after he jumped from a window.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, leading the investigation, said: “This is a shocking incident which has tragically resulted in one woman losing her life and another man in hospital with injuries.

“Our thoughts at this time are with both victims and their loved ones, who are being supported by specialist officers. Our enquiries are in the early stages but we do not believe there to be any wider threat to the public.”

DCI Bhangoo added that local residents should expect an increased police presence in the area over the coming days to provide reassurance following the incident.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack or who has information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
