Khan in town as election day approaches

Incumbent London Mayor Sadiq Khan was in the borough this weekend to support his party’s by-election candidate for the Charville Ward, Steve Garelick.

The Charville by-election is expected to be a close call between Garelick, a regional organiser for the GMB Union, and his Conservative rival Darran Davies.

The by-election, which will take place alongside the London Mayoral election on May 6, was called following the death of Cllr Neil Fyfe in November last year. Cllr Fyfe had served as a Conservative member of the Council since being first elected in May 2010.
