A doctor was stabbed while on duty at Hillingdon Hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning, prompting a major emergency response and the arrest of a suspect on suspicion of attempted murder.

Metropolitan Police officers already at the hospital on an unrelated matter responded shortly before 2.40am after reports that a doctor had been attacked inside the Uxbridge hospital.
The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered injuries that police said were not life-threatening or life-changing. He was treated at the scene before being taken to a major trauma centre.
A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.
The London Ambulance Service said crews were called at 2.58am to reports of a stabbing at the hospital: “We sent an ambulance crew who were already at the hospital. We also sent an incident response officer and a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance to the scene.
“We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre.”
In a statement issued later on Tuesday, The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust confirmed the injured man was a member of staff.
A trust spokesperson said: “A member of our staff received non-life-threatening injuries in an incident at Hillingdon Hospital.
“We continue to support and reassure our staff following this incident.
“The safety and wellbeing of our staff is our highest priority and any form of violence or aggression towards our teams is unacceptable.
“All of our services are open as usual.”
Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. Anyone who may be able to assist the investigation is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 926/25May.
