Supporting the Hillingdon Stroke Association

At Hillingdon Vision, we believe the best things happen when the community comes together. One of the organisations we’ve been especially proud to support is the Hillingdon Stroke Association, a group that provides a lifeline for people and families living with the effects of a stroke.

The Stroke Association offers so much – from advice and peer groups to the simple reassurance of being around people who truly understand. Their work is inspiring, and we’ve loved finding ways to help them share it more widely.

Over the past few months, we’ve stepped in with practical support wherever we can. That’s meant designing banners and promotional materials, loaning out our marquee and gazebo so outdoor events run smoothly, taking photos to capture special moments, and giving a boost with media and publicity so their message reaches more people.

But it’s not just about equipment and design – it’s about people. One of our favourite moments was running a media talk with the group, showing how photography and video can be made accessible with simple, everyday equipment. It was wonderful to see members light up at the idea that they, too, could tell stories and share experiences through media. For us, that’s what community journalism is all about – everyone having a voice.

We also had the joy of joining the group on a brilliant day out to the De Havilland Aircraft Museum in Hertfordshire. Surrounded by historic planes, including the world’s first jet airliner, the de Havilland Comet, there was plenty to discover and talk about. The day was full of laughter, learning, and connection – and of course, we took some photographs to make sure those memories were captured.

For our team, experiences like this remind us why we do what we do. As we often say:

“Supporting the Stroke Association has been an absolute joy for us. Their dedication to helping people rebuild their lives after a stroke is inspiring, and being able to play a small part in that journey is what Hillingdon Vision is all about. Whether it’s designing a banner, running a workshop, or joining them on a day out, we love being able to take some of the pressure off so their volunteers can focus on what really matters – the people they support.”

This partnership has been a true highlight for us. It’s shown that when groups in Hillingdon work together, we can create not only support but also joy, connection, and lasting memories. And we can’t wait to keep building on that with the Hillingdon Stroke Association.
