West Drayton High Street has been completely closed this evening following a serious road traffic collision in which a pedestrian is believed to have been struck by a vehicle. The incident sparked an immediate and large-scale emergency response, with police, ambulance crews, and London’s Air Ambulance all racing to the scene.
The collision occurred during busy evening hours, quickly bringing the area to a standstill. Multiple police units cordoned off the road in both directions while paramedics worked to assess and treat the casualty. The air ambulance landed in a nearby open space, and witnesses reported seeing its medical team rushing to a waiting police van, which then transported them to the scene under blue lights. Their urgency suggested that the pedestrian’s injuries may be life-threatening.
Emergency services remain at the scene as of 9:00pm, and the High Street is expected to remain closed for several hours. Collision investigation officers are also on site, and traffic is being diverted through surrounding residential streets, causing significant delays across the area.
One witness, visibly shaken, described the unfolding scene:
“It’s chaos — nobody can get anywhere, cars are at a standstill, buses have been abandoned. But honestly, what does that matter? I just hope the person is okay. I’ve had to walk home, but I’m safe. That poor injured person is in a much worse position, and I just hope they make it through.”
Local businesses have also been affected, with some forced to close early and others helping direct pedestrians away from the cordoned-off area. Residents living nearby have been seen gathering at the edges of the police barrier, many expressing concern and hoping for positive news.
The identity and condition of the pedestrian have not yet been confirmed, and police have not released an official statement regarding the cause of the collision or whether any arrests have been made.
Authorities are urging people to avoid the area entirely and to check for public transport disruptions, as several bus routes remain suspended or diverted.
Further updates will be provided once official information becomes available.
