Horticulture enthusiasts in Ruislip are in for a treat this April as the Ruislip Central Horticultural Society (RCHS) welcomes one of the most influential names in British gardening, Matthew Pottage, for an exclusive talk.

Pottage, who currently leads horticulture and landscape strategy for The Royal Parks in London and previously served as Curator of RHS Garden Wisley, is set to share his wealth of knowledge with local gardening aficionados. As the youngest-ever curator of an RHS garden, Pottage played a key role in reshaping Wisley, one of the UK’s most significant horticultural sites.
The event, to be held at St. Martin’s Church Hall on Tuesday, 8 April 2025, will offer attendees a rare opportunity to gain insight into his career, the challenges facing modern horticulture, and his personal plant favourites. The evening will include a detailed PowerPoint presentation, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session, giving guests the chance to engage directly with one of the country’s top gardening minds.

RCHS has long been a hub for gardening enthusiasts, organising flower shows, expert talks, and community events that bring together like-minded individuals. Past guest speakers have included leading horticulturalists and BBC Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time panellists. According to RCHS, the upcoming event will continue this tradition of delivering engaging and educational content for its members and the wider community.
“We are delighted to welcome Matthew Pottage to RCHS. His extensive experience and passion for horticulture make this an unmissable event for gardening enthusiasts in Ruislip and beyond,” said a spokesperson for the society.
Tickets for the event are available through the RCHS website, with limited seating expected to sell out quickly. Attendees can look forward to an evening of horticultural inspiration, complemented by refreshments including wine, snacks, and hot drinks.
