THE WIDER IMPACT OF OUR COMMUNITY WORK

At Hillingdon Vision, our impact goes beyond media. We’ve supported adults facing unemployment, young people starting out in education, and community members managing mental health challenges. By combining creativity, skills training, and hands-on opportunities, we help people build confidence, gain real experience, and move forward in life. HELPING PEOPLE TO GROW:
STORIES FROM THE PEOPLE WE EMPOWER

ALICIA HORNE :
From volunteer to undergraduate

"Before I joined Hillingdon Vision, life wasn’t easy. I was struggling with my mental health and lacked confidence in myself. Coming here gave me a purpose and the chance to achieve something meaningful.

Through volunteering I learned practical skills like using professional cameras, taking and editing photos, and working on real charity projects and events. More importantly, I grew in confidence and discovered what I’m capable of.

Hillingdon Vision didn’t just give me skills — it gave me belief in myself. The experience has played a huge part in me getting into Brunel University to study journalism this year, and I honestly don’t know where I’d be without it."

MARY PARKER:
"I WOULD OF GONE TO PRISON"

“If it wasn’t for Hillingdon Vision, I would probably be in prison right now. Before I joined, I felt lost and didn’t see much of a future for myself.

Volunteering here gave me structure, purpose, and the chance to put my energy into something positive. I’ve learned real media skills, supported charities, and worked on community projects that made me feel proud of what I could achieve.

Hillingdon Vision didn’t just keep me out of trouble — it gave me confidence, direction, and a belief in my own future.”
